About the Vía de la Plata app

Yellow Arrow Guides - Vía de la Plata from Seville to Santiago de Compostela.

A guide for pilgrims on the Vía de la Plata.

Fully updated in 2023, this is the app version of the long-established Walking Guide to the Vía de la Plata by Gerald Kelly which has been published

every year since 2012.

It contains:

- Interactive, offline maps with the route of the Vía, albergues and important amenities

- Interactive, zoomable maps from overview right down to street level

- "My location", shows you exactly where you are on the map

- Notes on the towns and villages you'll pass through

- Route descriptions and distances

- Altitudes

- Pilgrim accommodation

- Services: shops, banks, etc.

- Restaurants, with the author's personal recommendations

- Notes on some of the important historical sites you can visit

- Dark mode and adjustable text size so you don't have to find your glasses every time you need to check something

This is a very simple app with no user interaction or pointless "social networking". In fact, once you've installed it and downloaded the maps, it will never download or upload any data (so no roaming data shocks!). It's also free of advertising.

The information is organised hierarchically to make it easier to access. The buttons at the top and bottom of the screen allow you to navigate between different screens and levels.

On the first level is an Overview which divides the Vía into stages, starting and ending in major Vía cities and towns.

On the second level is a list of the places with pilgrim accommodation in the stage you selected above. The route maps are also accessible from this level.

The third level gives detailed descriptions of individual places with pilgrim hostels , services, sights and the history of the place. The urban maps are accessible from this level. Urban maps don't use any particular symbols.
